Green Thumb

The sun is shining, the green grass looks lush after last weeks rain and one of my pepper plants has grown it's very first red pepper.  Oh, what a day.  I might even have to use it for tonight's dinner!

A Little Piece of Mexico

I recently discovered a little gem of an open air market a few miles from our house.  It's called Canino Produce Inc. and as soon as you walk in you feel like you've been transported into Mexico.  Shopping in markets like this while traveling is one of my favorite things to do, so it's nice to know it's only a few minutes away!

We bought one of these fuzzy fruits at the market.  Now I need to find out the name of it, and taste test as well!
All sorts of dried beans.
Look at those beautiful colors!
We bought some fresh figs, plums and mango.  De-lish!  Amelia is a big fan of mango.

Texas heat? No thank You!

I learned a huge lesson last week with these two girls.  Don't go out for a short walk in the park at 3PM on a hot summer day in Houston.  They ran and they ran the first 30 minutes but on the walk back it was just too much.  I ended up carrying two 25 pound toddlers at the same time and I believe we all drank a gallon of water each!
Jo's keeping a good pace.
Checking out some pretty purple berries.

"Howdy Gator"

Guess where this happy green gator is from?  :)

Thrift Shopping

My husband and I lived in Farmington, NM several years ago before our sweet girl was born.  I have a favorite shop I like to visit so on our way to Silverton this year I managed to make a quick stop and I' so glad I did!  I found this beautiful hand woven wall hanging hidden underneath a bunch of old sheets and fabric which I thought would look beautiful in Amelia's room.  The price? $10. What a steal!

Armadillo

Back home!

What a week! We had such a wonderful time in Colorado.  We hiked, we cycled, we played in ice cold creeks, we made yummy hearty meals, drank local micro-brew and best of all, we relaxed.

We dropped by through Santa Fe, NM on our way to our little mountain cabin.  Lavender grows all throughout town.  Such a beautiful sight.

I got to sneak away for an hour and check out the Georgia O'keeffe Museum.

Wildflowers in bloom on one of our daily hikes.

Amelia got really excited about the two ducks in the background.  "DUCK! DUCK! DUCK!"

Our cabin was right next to a small playground, which we used daily.

Our yearly picture at Molas Pass.

Another great view.

Right before a hike, Amelia fell asleep in the car, so with a bit of time to kill I got to paint the view with some of Amelia's watercolor paint.

Take me Home, Country Road

Ever since I was a little girl I've dreamt of living in the mountains.  Back then it was a castle in the Austrian Alps, now it's a cabin in Colorado.  Maybe if I keep dreaming one day it will come true.  For now, a week in the mountains is good enough for me!  Goodbye Texas humidity, Hello fresh mountain air!
